An Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court in Osun on Friday remanded a 42-year-old man, Adegbile Musibau, for alleged N1 million fraud.
The defendant, whose house address was not given, is facing a two-count charge of fraud and stealing.
The prosecutor, ASPEmmanuel Abdullahi, told the court that the defendant committed the offense sometime in August 2022 at Ita-Olopo Street, Ile-Ife.
Abdullahi said that the defendant allegedly fraudulently obtained an FCMB ATM card and a phone belonging to one Bimbo Awoyera, with which he withdrew the sum of N1,030,000 from her bank account.
He said the offense contravened sections 390(9) and 419 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge.
The defense counsel, Mr. K. A. Akintilo, applied for bail for the defendant in the most liberal terms, with a promise that his client would not jump bail.
Magistrate Kike Adebayo, however, ordered the defendant to be remanded at the Ile-Ife Correctional Centre and asked the defense counsel to put in a formal bail application before the court.
Adebayo adjourned the case to June 9 for a hearing.
