He alleged that the defendant attacked Auwal Yusuf, his neighbour on his left hand. As a result, he said, Yusuf sustained grievous injury and had a surgery on the arm at the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital Kano.

A Kano Magistrates’ Court on Friday ordered that 22-year-old man, Abubakar Isma’il, who pleaded guilty to stabbing his neighbour to be remanded in a correction centre.

The defendant, who resides in Gayawa Quarters Kano, is charged with causing grievous hurt, belonging to a gang of miscreants and public nuisance.

Magistrate Farouk Ibrahim-Umar, who gave the order, ajourned the matter until July 20, for summary trial.

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Insp Elias Ekainu told the court that the defendant committed the offence on May 1.

He alleged that the defendant attacked Auwal Yusuf, his neighbour on his left hand.

As a result, he said, Yusuf sustained grievous injury and had a surgery on the arm at the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital Kano.

Ekainu said that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 248,97(b) and 183 of the Penal Code.
