The prosecutor, Insp. Chidi Leo, told the court that the offence was committed in Abubakar’s residence.

A Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday ordered the remand of a 39-year-old trader, Salisu Abubakar, in a correction center for allegedly defiling his neighbor’s eight-year-old daughter.

The police charged Abubakar, who lives in Ungwan Sarki, Kaduna, with defilement.

The Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, did not take the plea of Abubakar for want of jurisdiction.

Emmanuel held that the remand is pending legal advice from the office of the Kaduna State Ministry of Justice.

He adjourned the matter until Aug. 16 for a hearing.

The prosecutor, Insp. Chidi Leo, told the court that the offense was committed at Abubakar’s residence.

Leo said that the defendant invited his victim, who happened to be his neighbor‘s daughter, into his room.

He said the offense contravened the provisions of Section 206 of the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017.(as amended).
