He said Obi made a generic accusation of election malpractice, adding that the petitioners failed to prove that their votes were suppressed by failing to specify the number of votes suppressed.

The Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal on September 6th, ruled that the Labour Party’s petition of irregularities in the 2023 election was generic

Justice Abba Mohammed who read the judgement said Peter Obi failed to identify some polling units that recorded irregularities during the election.

He said Obi made a generic accusation of election malpractice, adding that the petitioners failed to prove that their votes were suppressed by failing to specify the number of votes suppressed.

Although Obi and LP claimed to have received the majority of lawful votes cast, the judge ruled that they failed to provide the number of lawful votes they received. "The petitioners neglected to specify the number of affected votes and the number of disenfranchised individuals.

In addition to failing to specify the number of ballots suppressed, they also failed to demonstrate that their votes were suppressed. The election is determined by the numbers," the adjudicator stated.
