Wife leaves child custody to father, says boy is doing well
One Rashidat Ahmed has decided to leave her child custody with his father, Ibrahim AbdulSalam, as she confirmed that the child is well taken care of.
The petitioner had earlier filed for divorce, custody, and child maintenance at Area Court, Centre-Igboro, Ilorin, due to a lack of love.
“I don’t want custody of my son any longer. I want his father to continue taking care of him.
“I noticed that he has enrolled our son in school and he is taking good care of him when I visited him last week,” the petitioner told the court.
The respondent, who was earlier served divorce notice by the court, sent a letter of acceptance of divorce, saying: “I release my wife to go her separate way.”
The presiding judge, AbdulKadir Ahmed, thereby dissolved the Islamic marriage between the parties on mutual agreement.
Ahmed, however, ordered the petitioner to observe the three-month Iddah period before she could marry again and to send a copy of the judgement to the respondent.
