Woman prays for divorce over husband's claimed oppression
A poultry employee, Chioma Daniel, prayed a Grade ‘A’ Customary Court sitting at Mapo in Ibadan to grant her divorce on grounds of her estranged husband, Ifean’s ”oppressive tendencies”.
Daniel, who resides in Odo Ona-Idiayunre area of Ibadan, said in her testimony that life was no longer the same since she married Ifean 13 years ago.
”My husband nags anytime he sees me making money.
“The moment I got pregnant for Ifean, he changed from his initial positive attitude.
“In fact, I’ve had to surrender the title document of the land I acquired to him when he discovered that I was building a house in order for me have peace.
”He beats and chases me out of his home at night,” she said.
She prayed the the court to grant her divorce and to compel him to be responsive.
After listening to the petitioner, the President of the court, Mrs S.M. Akintayo directed the bailiff to ensure service of the hearing notice on the respondent.
Akintayo subsequently adjourned the suit until May 2 for defence.
