Lagos State Gov., Sanwo-Olu says he will prioritize security to boost investment

The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has said that a safe and secured Lagos would attract more investment in the state.

Receiving the new GOC 81 Division Nigerian Army, Maj.-Gen. Olu Irefin, on Wednesday at Lagos House, Marina, Sanwo-Olu said that the state government would continue to partner with the military toward ensuring a safe and secured Lagos.

He said that business was part of the essence of any government, hence, his administration would continue to ensure that businesses grew in the state.

”Lagos is a very dynamic and resourceful city, it is a pacesetter and Centre of Excellence. It is a place where everything happens in the country, so security is very critical.

”We have been using the Operation MESA (OP MESA) as part of the several security measures to ensure that Lagos continues to remain safe for investment and the citizens,” he said.

Sanwo-Olu said that the state Ministry of Education would assist in providing permanent teachers for military schools in the state.

”We thank and appreciate your effort at ensuring that citizens that are not of military are taken into your schools in the barracks.

”We will inform the Commissioner for Education to see how they can partner and collaborate with your education sector and see how we can help out on teachers and even other equipment.

”We are aware of how strategic your responsibility and assignment could be and we will continue to partner with you. Lagos will continue to remain safe and secure for everybody,” he said.

Earlier, the new GOC commended the state government for stemming the activities of miscreants within Lagos area.

He said that the Division had zero tolerance for indiscipline and would continue to see that the personnel followed the law of the land.

The GOC called on the state government to support the military in getting permanent teachers for its schools in the state.

According to Irefin, over 70 per cent of the students in military schools in Lagos had civilian parents and called on the state government to assist in getting permanent teachers for the schools.

”So that is one area we request your assistance, if through the N-Power initiative, the teachers are employed and posted to that area to further assist the schools.

”We appreciate all the giant strides you have taken in Lagos State and we will continue to support you,” he said.
