She advocated for women inclusion in governance to encourage girls-child education and the opportunity for them to contribute to society with the needed confidence for a better future.

Kwallam Amos, a member of Adamawa children’s parliament has encouraged girls-child to always have self confidence to succeed.

Amos made the call on Tuesday at the commemoration of 2025 International Day for Women and Girls in Science, organised by the parliament with support from Save the Children International (SCI) in Dumne, Song Local Government.

Amos said the theme of the commemoration “Women and girls in science leadership- a new era for sustainability” is apt considering how women were not given the needed opportunities in leadership.

She advocated for women inclusion in governance to encourage girls-child education and the opportunity for them to contribute to society with the needed confidence for a better future.

Abdurasheed Mohammed, SCI Team Lead, called on parents and teachers to double effort in harnessing science for women and girls to be fully involved in the field of sciences.

Mohammed who was represented by Mr Amos Farisa, Advocacy and Campaign focal person said gender equality in science is crucial for building a better future for all.

He urged teachers and parents to change attitudes and shun biases in pursuing scientific careers for girls-child.

Mr Kaduna Nelson, Principal Government Day Secondary School (GDSS) Dumne, appreciated the children parliament and the SCI for hosting the activity in the school.

He said the event was first of its kind in the school and urged for more of such engagements.

Nelson also encouraged the students to be committed in their studies for future success.
