Emeka Agba Boxing Promotions held its maiden tournament on Sunday at the Old School Hall, National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, which enthralled fans to no end.
Supreme News reports that no fewer than six bouts were held, with Samuel Ebohen and soldier boy Godwin Ambrose slugging it out in the National Cruiserweight Challenge bout.
After eight rounds of gruelling contests where both boxers gave credible accounts of themselves and gave fans a taste of quality boxing, Ebohen won by unanimous decision.
Ebohen said that he was moved with passion after the victory and gave kudus to his opponent, whom he said was a good fighter.
He also said his best was yet to come and people should continue to watch out for him.
In other fights, Muyideen Ijalo defeated Hammed Adetokun by unanimous decision in their National Lightweight Challenge encounter.
Both boxers were having their first professional bout and were thankful to the promoter for giving them the platform to express their talents.
Oderinlo crushed Dimeji Lawal in the third of their six-round National Super Middleweight Challenge bout.
Another debutant in professional boxing, Yusuf Egbeyemi, halted Sunday Igiebor in the fourth round of their National Lightweight Challenge bout.
Lucky Oyibo and Ibrahim Shobusi were adjudged to have drawn their fight in the second round of their National Lightweight Challenge, as it was halted by the ring side doctor.
Another debutant, Henry Abolokeji, defeated Segun Afikun in a unanimous decision in their National Welterweight Challenge bout.
The boxing tournament was sanctioned by the Nigerian Boxing Board of Controll NBB of C.
Emeka Agba, founder, Emeka Agba Boxing Promotions, expressed his determination to host more boxing events to develop budding talents.
He said that he was proud to see the array of young stars who were gracing the maiden edition of his boxing promotions.
He said he was confident about the future and was determined to take boxing and his new discoveries to greater heights.
“I’m a fan of boxing and very passionate about boxing, and I want to support boxing the best way I can, and that’s why I created the Emeka Agba Boxing Promotions.
“I am very impressed with the performance of the boxers; they have given a high level of boxing entertainment.
“With what I’m seeing today, I think they can be the best in the world if well supported and well promoted, Agba said.
