Power-lifting Federation seeks support for improved performance.

The Power-lifting Federation of Nigeria, on Wednesday, urged Nigerians to support the association with resources to enhance coaching and training programmes.

National President, Charles Ezenwanne, made the call while speaking with the News men in Lagos.

Ezenwanne said the support would help in improving the performance of athletes in the sport.

He recalled that Nigeria’s power-lifting team made history at the Paris 2024 championships, returning home with an impressive haul of gold and silver medals.

According to him, this outstanding performance solidifies our position as the best team in Africa and the world.

“However, we cannot rest on our laurels. To build on this success and dominate future championships, we urgently need sponsorship support.

“Increased funding will enable us to host national trials to identify and develop talented athletes as well as develop and retain top athletes through enhanced support programmes.

“This needed support will also help in enhancing our coaching and training programmes to improve performance.

“Also, we will be able to participate in more international competitions to gain exposure and experience,” he said.

The association boss said that the association was seeking partnerships with forward-thinking organisations that share same passion for the sport and committed to excellence.

“Together, we can achieve even greater heights and inspire a new generation of athletes,” he said.
