The Police on Tuesday arraigned a 36-year-old teacher, Blessing Ezechido, at the Magistrates’ Court Gwagwalada, for alleged criminal breach of trust and cheating.
Ezechido of Kuje Road, Gwagwalada, Abuja, is being charged with two counts of criminal breach of trust and cheating.
The Prosecution Counsel, Abudullahi Tanko, told the court that the complainant, Yahaya Ogaza of Dagiri Gwagwalada, FCT, reported the matter at the police station on June 13.
Tanko said that the complainant bought a piece of land valued at N300,000 from the defendant on Sept. 9, 2020.
He said the complainant made a part payment of N200,000 to the defendant, adding that in October 2020, Ogaza asked the defendant to sell the land and refund his money.
The prosecutor noted that the defendant sold the land and converted the money to her private use.
He said the offences contravened Sections 322 and 311 of the Penal Code.
Ezechido, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Magistrate Yusuf Ibrahim admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must reside within the jurisdiction of the court.
Ibrahim ordered the sureties to present their valid means of identification.
Similarly, the court directed both sureties and defendant to undertake an affidavit to forfeit the bail bond, if the defendant jumped bail.
Ibrahim adjourned the case until July 7 for hearing.
