The Tsangaya students were abducted by bandits at Gidan Bakuso in the Gada local government area of Sokoto state.

Just 48 hours after approximately 287 student were stolen from two schools in Kaduna, 15 students were kidnapped in Sokoto State.

It was discovered that the occurrence occurred in the early hours of today (Saturday, March 9, 2024), at 2am.

Bandits abducted the Tsangaya pupils in Gidan Bakuso, Gada local government district, Sokoto state.

The school's proprietor, Liman Abubakar, informed our reporter that 15 pupils had yet to be found, adding, "We are still counting."

He described how the bandits stormed the town about 1 a.m., shooting one person and kidnapping a woman.

Abubakar added, "As they were leaving town, they noticed our students rushing into their rooms and kidnapped many of them." We have identified 15 people who are missing and are still looking for others.

Abubakar emphasised that the village had been attacked by bandits before.

Kabiru Dauda, a member of the state House of Assembly representing the Gada-East Constituency, confirmed the attack, saying he received a distress call from the village about 2 a.m.

He went on to say, "I reached out to the local government authorities and security agencies, and I am sure they are doing something about it."

In another incident, bandits attacked and killed three people in Turba village, Isa Local Government Area, including the hamlet's leader. Habibu Modachi, the representative of Isa Constituency, confirmed the incident, implying that it could be a retaliation for recent security operations targeting bandit hideouts.

When reached, Sokoto State Police Command spokesman ASP Ahmad Rufa'i stated that he was unaware of the event but promised to communicate with the Divisional Police Officers in the affected local government areas and provide updates to our reporter.

The attacks took place as the state was graduating its Community Guards Corps, an initiative aimed at combatting banditry as part of the state government's efforts to improve security.
