Suleja, the commercial hub of Niger State and a short distance from Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, has seen a new wave of protests.
According to images received by SaharaReporters, enraged Nigerians took to the streets on Wednesday, demanding that the administration led by President Bola Tinubu put a stop to the misery and intolerable inflation they were experiencing.
"Protests are still going on in Niger State's Suleja local government area. They want Tinubu to put an end to the everyday agony that the majority of the people in the nation endure," a witness stated.
It was reported on Monday that hundreds of men, women, and young people protested against the country's soaring inflation in Minna, the capital of Niger State.
They have also bemoaned the nation's rising petrol and fuel prices.
Videos revealed that the protesters shut down key thoroughfares while bemoaning the lack of action from the government to stop the issue with food prices rising.
Police officers and other security personnel were observing the demonstrators as they were heard chanting protest songs.
Nonetheless, Niger State deputy governor Yakubu Garba had stated that the administration was cognizant of the suffering and adversity that the nation's families were going through.
Yakubu had informed the demonstrators that the government was attempting to lower living expenses and the financial effects of eliminating petrol subsidies.
