Governor Yusuf reinstated him immediately following the passing of the Kano State Emirate Council (Repeal) Bill 2024 into law.

Supreme News reports that Muhammadu Sanusi has been turbaned as the new Emir of Kano for the second time.

The Kano State Government House hosted the ceremony on Friday.

Traditional rulers, kingmakers, and other dignitaries attended the presentation in the Kano State Government House's Art Chamber.

Governor Yusuf reinstated him immediately following the passing of the Kano State Emirate Council (Repeal) Bill 2024 into law.

He was reinstalled to the throne four years after being deposed by the government of Abdullahi Ganduje, the state's former governor.

The new law supersedes the Kano State Emirates Council Law of 2019 and dissolves the emirate councils established by Ganduje.

Ganduje utilised that ordinance to divide the Kano Emirate into five in December 2019, and ousted Sanusi II on March 9, 2020. The Ganduje administration established emirates in Karaye, Bichi, Rano, and Gaya, as well as Kano.

Emir Sanusi II, a former governor of Nigeria's Central Bank, was known as Lamido Sanusi before to becoming monarch.
