Bukuru residents rate power supply above average, commend JEDC

Some residents of Jos-Bukuru metropolis have rated their power supply as above average and commended the Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JEDC).

The residents and business owners in Jos-Bukuru metropolis, who spoke with a correspondent of the newsmen on Monday in Jos, said power supply had been stable and constant.

According to a welder/fabricator, Mr. Matthew Okposio, whose business premises are located on Yakubu Gowon Way, who spoke with newsmen, said he enjoys at least eight hours of power supply during the day.

Okposio said the availability of power had enhanced his productivity and also helped in increasing the profit he often made since he was no longer dependent on any alternative source of power.

He commended the JEDC for ensuring power availability and appealed to the company not to relent on its ores.

Similarly, Mr. Inusa Umar, a tailor who spoke with NAN, said he enjoyed constant power supply, which had taken off the burden of looking for alternative means of power supply.

Umar, whose shop is located at Secretariat Junction, said the constant supply of electricity had made him proactive in the running of his business.

Mr. Pam Bitrus, who owns a barber’s saloon along the Bukuru-Express way, said the power supply was average and it had helped his business make more profit as he was less dependent on diesel or fuel to power his generating set.

Mrs Chung Dalyop, who owns a mini cold room, rated the power supply in her area as good, saying that she rarely used her solar panel inverters to run her business.

Dalyop called for its sustenance.

Mr Abdul Ibrahim, a resident of Nassarawa Gwom, said the power supply in his area was above average and it had made life less stressful especially at night, since he could now use his fan this hot season.

Mr. Abubakar Abubakar, a resident of Alikazure, commended the JEDC for constantly providing electricity.

Mr. Akpan Paul, a resident of Rantya, rated the power supply in his area as excellent.

“The electricity situation in my area is excellent; rarely is there a power outage, and if there is, it barely lasts for more than 10 minutes.

“I cannot remember the last time I turned on my generating set.

“We turn off the freezer to enable us to take things out of it, due to how frozen it is,” Paul said.

He commended the DISCO in charge of supplying power to Jos and urged them to sustain the feat.

According to him, the company too will thrive because what it means is that it will also be making profit with more consumption.

Mr Solomon Musa, who resides at West of Mines, said power supply was constant in the area and it had helped most small business owners, whose businesses were dependent on power, stay in business.

Dr Elijah Adakole, JEDC’s Head, Corporate Communications, said the company was under obligation to equitably and effectively distribute energy allocated to it to its customers.
