- Enugu Boxing...
The Enugu State Boxing Association has expressed sadness at the death of its Chairman and a member of the Board of Nigeria Boxing Federation, Osondu Ogbu.
Ogbu (a.k.a. OldSkool) died on Thursday (Feb. 15) in a private hospital in Lagos during a brief illness.
Ebere Amaraizu, Vice-Chairman of the association, said on Tuesday in Enugu that the death was devastating to members of the association.
Amaraizu said that the news of the death was shocking, adding that Ogbu would be missed greatly.
“Ogbu has made huge sacrifices for the development of the game of boxing. He was a source of motivation to our athletes.
“He related with both athletes and board members in a friendly way.
“Though, we cannot question God, this is shocking. I spoke with him few days ago on the future of boxing and our athletes, and never knew it was going to be our last conversation.
“We express our heartfelt condolences to the wife and the entire family who he left behind,” he said.
Amaraizu prayed for the repose of Ogbu’s soul.
“We shall maintain those legacies he spearheaded,” he said.
