Ex-PRP Senatorial candidate seeks probe of Ningi’s allegations

Abdullahi Wakili, the People’s Redemption Party (PRP)candidate for Kaduna North Senatorial District in the 2023 general elections, hascalled for thorough investigations into the allegations of budget padding made by the now suspended Sen. Abdul Ningi.

In a statement issued on Wednesday in Kaduna, Wakili said, “We must uphold the integrity of our legislative body; it is crucial to ensure due process and fairness.”

Expressing concern over the alleged budget padding amounting to N3 trillion, he urged that these allegations should be diligently examined before any conclusive actions were taken.

Wakili criticised the suspension without a proper inquiry, opining that such actions might lead to suspicions of a Senate attempting to conceal potential wrongdoings.

“Transparency and accountability in governance demand addressing allegations of financial misconduct.”

The former senatorial candidate urged the Senate to reconsider its decision and facilitate a comprehensive investigation into the claims made by Ningi.

”This approach will not only enhance the credibility of institutions but also ensure the concerns of citizens are heard and addressed.

“In doing so, we can foster a more just and responsible government that serves the interests of all Nigerians,” Wakili added.
