Hayyo said that Ibe had contributed immensely to the transformation of the education secretariat.

Mr. Prospect Ibe, the pioneer Permanent Secretary, Education Secretariat of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), has bowed out of service after clocking 60 years of age.

Ibe was among the 10 pioneer Permanent Secretaries appointed by the Minister of the FCT, Mr. Nyesom Wike, and deployed to various secretariats of the FCTA in March 2024.

Their appointment followed President Bola Tinubu’s approval for the implementation of the Federal Capital Territory Civil Service Commission (Establishment) Act, 2018.

Ibe, who thanked Wike for the opportunity to reach the peak of his career as a permanent secretary, described the experience as “very fulfilling.”

At a valedictory organised in his honour in Abuja on Tuesday, Ibe promised to make his expertise available to the FCTA whenever it is needed.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Danlami Hayyo, Mandate Secretary of the Secretariat, described Ibe as a “goal-orientated and well-experienced” civil servant.

Hayyo said that Ibe had contributed immensely to the transformation of the education secretariat.

“One major thing that will be missed from the outgoing permanent secretary is his trustworthiness, which is hard to find among staff today.

“He is open-minded and full of trust.

“I urge all staff of the secretariat to emulate his good, exemplary lifestyle and dedication to duty,” Hayyo pleaded.

Also speaking, Mrs. Olubunmi Olowokere, the Permanent Secretary, Social Development Secretariat, described Ibe as a “hard-working and goal-orientated” personality.

Olowokere said that, as a colleague, Ibe’s contributions to the development of the FCTA were outstanding and worthy of emulation.

Similarly, Dr. Babagana Adam, Permanent Secretary, Health Services and Environment Secretariat, said, “Ibe is a man of honour.

“The maturity and decency he exhibited during his days of service are some of the legacies he is leaving behind for the junior workers to learn from.”

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that a major highlight of the event was the unveiling of Press Clips and Action in Pictures, a publication of the Information/Public Relations Unit of the secretariat.

The publication is a documentary of key moments and contributions of Ibe during his tenure as permanent secretary of the secretariat.
