Supreme News reports that the empowerment is part of President Bola Tinubu’s Presidential CNG Initiative (Pi-CNG), aimed at ameliorating the pains of fuel hikes and providing a better option for Nigerians.

The Federal Government has empowered members of Park Management System (PMS) commercial motorists in Oyo State with 150 units of compressed natural gas (CNG) conversion kits.

Supreme News reports that a total of 150 CNG kits were distributed to three centres in the state.

Supreme News reports that the empowerment is part of President Bola Tinubu’s Presidential CNG Initiative (Pi-CNG), aimed at ameliorating the pains of fuel hikes and providing a better option for Nigerians.

The Business Development Executive, P-CNGi, Louisa Afu, at the presentation of the kits on Sunday in Ibadan, said that 150 transporters from different transport unions would receive free kits.

She added that the beneficiaries would also enjoy free installation during the ongoing first phase of the exercise.

Afu added that more transporters would be accommodated in the next phase of the program.

She said the government would also facilitate cheaper financing from banks for private vehicle owners who might wish to convert their vehicles.

She stated that the government had planned a 50 percent discount for rights shares and E-Hailing Taxis.

“Nigeria is blessed with a vast resource of gas, which is cheaper and more sustainable.

“The 150 kits have been delivered and shared equally among NIPCO Gas, Bovas Auto Gas, and Automation Auto Gas Limited in Ibadan for free installation for commercial vehicles.

“The government will work with more partners to ensure accessibility of CNG gas and sustainability of the initiative, “she said.

Mr. Ademola Adeoye, Vice Chairman, Park Management System (PMS), Oyo State, expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for the special consideration given to the transporters as the initiative would lead to a drastic reduction in transport fares.

He said that the executives of the unions had made necessary enquiries on the CNG conversion and discovered that it was a good option.
