GOCOP re-elects President, Maureen Chigbo, 14 other NEC members

Mr. Max Amuchie, Mr. Horatius Egua, Mr. James Ume, Mr. Akeem Oyetunji, Mr. Tony Edike, and Mr. Raymond Ukaegbu, The Publisher of Supreme Magazine were re-elected as zonal coordinators for the North Central, North East, North West, South West, South-South, and South East, respectively, at the well-attended AGM.

The Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP) has re-elected Realnews's publisher, Maureen Chigbo, as president, along with fourteen other members of the National Executive Committee (NEC), for two more years.

Chigbo was initially elected in 2021, succeeding Mr. Dotun Oladipo, publisher of The Eagle Online, who had concluded two terms as president.


Members of the GOCOP National Executive Council sworn in following their re-election at the 7th Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Abuja Continental Hotel.

Mr. Danlami Nmodu, mni, was re-elected as the Deputy President, Mr. Ken Ugbechie as Vice President, South, and Mr. Tom Chaiheman as Vice President, North; Mr. Collins Edomaruse was re-elected as the General Secretary, and Mr. Olumide Iyanda was re-elected as the Deputy Secretary-General.

Remmy Nweke was reelected as Secretary of Publicity, Azuh Arinze as Financial Secretary, and Mrs. Yemisi Izuora as Treasurer.

Speaking after her re-election on behalf of her NEC for another term, Maureen Chigbo appreciated GOCOP members for their confidence in her team, pledging they would endeavour to deliberately position GOCOP for continuous growth and recognition in the market.

Tony Edike (South East Coordinator), Akeem Oyetunji (South West Coordinator), Max Amuchie (North Central Coordinator), and Horatius Egua (North East Coordinator) were sworn in as GOCOP Executive members.

Yusuf Ozi-Usman, publisher of Greenberg Reporters, presided over the 2023 GOCOP Election Committee, while Victoria Ibanga of NewEdition served as secretary. Other committee members are Dr. Monday Ashibogwu of QuickNews, Kemi Yesufu of Frontline News Online, and Barr. Afolabi Odeyemi of YouNews, who serves as a legal advisor.

The members of GOCOP, a non-profit, non-governmental, non-partisan organisation, own online publications.

On Thursday, October 5, 2023, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), the chairman of this year's conference, attended a ceremony in Abuja to inaugurate the newly re-elected NEC.
