Housewife, Asiya Ahmad, said the epileptic power supply has made house chores and cooking more cumbersome, adding that her family break their fast in the dark.

The Rigasa community of Igabi Local Government Area (LGA) of Kaduna state, on Friday decried the poor electricity supply to the area in recent time.

The residents, who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in separate interviews, said the poor power supply deteriorated when the Ramadan fasting commenced.

Abba Adamu, a resident of Makarfi road, Rigasa, said the epileptic power supply had negatively affected cold water and drink businesses.

“You know the weather is hot and people are fasting; as such, they will need cold drinks to quench their thirst once they complete a day’s fast.

“Therefore, we resort to buying ice blocks at the rate of N150 to N250 each so that people will buy our drink; but this is making us pay high cost of production,” he said.

Similarly, a housewife, Asiya Ahmad, said the epileptic power supply has made house chores and cooking more cumbersome, adding that her family break their fast in the dark.

She urged Kaduna Electric to provide adequate power supply, especially in the sacred month of Ramadan where Muslim faithfuls fast and pray.

On his part, Musbahu Mustafa said he does not rely on the power distributed, adding that he has found succor in solar energy.

“I don’t want to be disappointed that is why I installed a solar panel to generate power for my house.

“But it’s not everyone that can afford solar energy, therefore, it is necessary for Kaduna Electric to improve on its services,” he said.
