Man seeks end to 14-year ‘loveless’ marriage, calls wife troublesome
A mechanical engineer , Adetunji Adewale, has urged a Mapo Grade A Customary Court in Ibadan to dissolve his 14-year “loveless marriage” to his estranged wife, Adedoyin.
Adewale, who lives in Asolo-Ireakari, area of Ibadan told the court that Adedoyin did everything to make him an unhappy husband .
“I am tired of frequent domestic violence which is clear from Adedoyin’s lack of love for me.
“To this end, I am no more interested in her. She left me in 2014.
“Inspite of the fact that I have bedd Edn responsible for our two children’s welfare, Adedoyin does not allow them sleep over in my house.
“She is raising the children in an Islamic home, that is, her new husband’s house, whereas, I am a Christian,”Adewale said.
The petitioner sought an order restraining the respondent from any form of threat and molestation.
Adedoyin, a caterer and a resident of 26 Opeyemi, Idiroko, Asolo in Ibadan consented to the suit.
“My lord, don’t give Adewale custody of the children because they have been with me for about 10 years now.
“They are not used to him. He makes provision for their needs in addition to paying their school fees,”she clarified.
Delivering judgment , the Court President, Mrs S.M. Akintayo, pronounced the marriage between Adewale and Adedoyin dissolved.
Akintayo however, awarded custody of the two children to Adedoyin on grounds that the children were already used to her and might feel traumatised if given to their father.
Furthermore, she granted the order restraining the respondent from harassing, threatening, disturbing and interfering in the private life of the petitioner henceforth.
