- NGO creates app for...
An NGO, Eagle Lead Development Initiative (ELDI), has inaugurated an application for the reporting of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) cases.
Speaking in an interview with the newsmen on Tuesday in Kaduna, the Executive Director of the organisation, Ezekiel Peter said the ‘ TALKAM App was a very good platform to report cases from anywhere.
Peter said the gesture was in collaboration with DEVATOP Centre for Africa Development, with support from NAPTIP and the Network Against Child Trafficking, Abuse and Labour (NACTAL).
He said they created the app to ease GBV as well as Gender and Human Right (GHR) Case Reporting from anywhere, with an assurance to get support through to the referral system.
According to Peter, GBV was one of the many challenges encountered during and after the COVID-19 hit in 2019 till date, with different modes of negative outcomes.
“Addressing issues of GBV, trafficking in person and other related crimes, different partnerships are being built, with different initiatives to curb these deadly social vices.
“Devatop Centre for Africa Development signed an MoU with Eagle Lead Development Initiative (ELDI), a CSO responding to GBV cases in Kaduna state.
”This is to serve as a hub for GBV Case Reporting and handling of cases reported on the TALKAM APP,” Peter said.
He added that the app was an initiative designed to enable the easy reporting of cases from anywhere in Africa and get support from the hub CSO where the case was domiciled.
“This is one of the most innovative initiatives as it reduces the burden of trying to access GBV Responders by survivors.
”It reduces the out-of-pocket expenses incurred while survivors are trying to locate GBV/GHR responder for case.
”There is also the feature of anonymous reporting,” Peter Said.
He also said the project was very much on time since young people were more on their phones now.
Peter said it would ease the burden that comes with trying to reach responders at distant locations.
He added, “Wherever you are, we are with you by virtue of this Talkam App.
”Report and your case will be allocated to the hub CSO in your state for necessary action after engaging you for details.
“ELDI is the organisation standing in for cases that are domiciled in Kaduna State.
“Use the online Application today and let’s ensure an abuse-free society through this initiative.
“Download the app from Google Play Store and Apple Store today. Everything is free.”
