Nwifuru explains why he banned tinted-glass, unregistered vehicles
Gov. Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi has said that he recently banned the use of tinted glass and unregistered vehicles due to the rising cases of insecurity in the state.
Nwifuru, in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Dr. Monday Uzor, on Sunday and made available to newsmen in Abakaliki, said that the ban was in the people’s interest.
The governor, in the statement, sadly recalled the recent killing of four police officers in the state while on duty along Hilltop Road, Abakaliki.
“The assailants came in tinted glass and unregistered vehicles.
“It is needless for public officers to mask themselves in tinted vehicles after being elected by the people.
“I wonder if, after asking people to vote for me, I will be hiding myself,” he said in the statement.
The governor said that when he was the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, he directed his drivers to remove all tinted glasses from their vehicles.
“I did not see why I should be hiding.
“People have lost hope of going to farms due to insecurity.
“Security should be everyone’s business, and as government officials, we must do something,” the statement read.
He noted that public officers had intelligence reports about the activities of the hoodlums who will face the music soon,” the statement read.
