Soludo said inductees should take their camp activities seriously, especially the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme.

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) on Friday swore in no fewer than 1,600 new corps members comprising 643 males and 957 females into the scheme.

Mrs Ekene Iruma, the Coordinator of NYSC in Anambra, disclosed this at the induction ceremony for members of Batch A stream 2 set at the permanent orientation camp Mbaukwu/Umuawulu, Awka South Local Government Area.

She commended the new corps members for their quick adaptation to camp rules while urging them to continue the good attitude and take good advantage of the principles that would be taught during the orientation programme.

“I am delighted to report that as of close of registration, we have registered a total of 1,600 Prospective Corps Members, comprising 643 males and 957 females,” she said.

Iruma lamented the deteriorating condition of the camp as a result of gully erosion challenge and called on Gov. Chukwuma Soludo to come and rescue the Infrastructure.

She pledged that the NYSC would continue to support the state government of Anambra through deployment of manpower to education, healthcare and other critical sectors in the rural communities.

In his speech, Soludo congratulated and welcomed the new corps members to Anambra while urging them to give their best to their fatherland.

Soludo said inductees should take their camp activities seriously, especially the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme.

Soludo, who was represented by Mr Patrick Aghamba, the Commissioner for Youth Development said Anambra had a tradition of rewarding hard work at the end of the service in the form of awards.

He said under one year, his government through the Ministry of Youth Development had recorded huge success in empowering the youth including creation of Solution Innovative District in collaboration with Microsoft digital skill liberation.

He said his government was determined to actualising the target of raising 1,000 youth millionaires and creating 130,000 private sector jobs annually and had set the process in motion with its One Youth, Two Skills Solution Initiative.

“Currently, no fewer than 20,000 youths in the state are being trained virtually, the Anambra digital tribe will make it the creative capital of Nigeria.

“Anambra is blessed with the spirit of Entrepreneurship and we have programs mapped out to activate that gift in our Developmental Agenda for our teeming youths.

“Just like your predecessors, we expect you to key into our highly tailored social and economic development agenda, we have one youth, two skills to help the youth in Anambra, you are expected to be partakers also,” he said.
