Respect uniform men for maximum benefits – Expert tells public

The Chief Consultant, Global Transport Policy (GTP), Dr Segun Musa has advised the public to accord respect to uniform men to get maximum benefits from them.

Musa, a security expert, gave the advice on Friday in Lagos while declaring open, GTP one-day training for Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) and Vigilante Group Of Nigeria (VGN) Lagos State Commands.

At the training, the security expert spoke on the theme, “Improving your Leadership Skills: The Emotional Intelligence Option”.

According to him, to get the best services from men in uniform like the police, military and others, the public should give maximum respect to them.

He said that the services of the uniform men was for the good of all.

The GTP consultant also advised the public to respect traffic officials.

He pointed out that traffic had been a big challenge in many cities like Lagos State.

He said that traffic officers had contributed to the growth of Nigerian economy, “by ensuring free flow of traffic for free movement of businesses”.

The GTP chairman stated that emotional intelligence would help the officers to be good leaders and to develop good relationship with the public.

He added that the workshop would fill the gap between the inter-agencies.

He further urged the public to give preferential treatment to security personnel because their jobs were essential services.

The consultant said that the training was the third series.

He stated that similar workshop had been organised for the police, Federal Road Safety Corps and Lagos State Transport Management Agency.

Musa pointed out that the purpose of the training was to support the government to give free workshop training to institutions with high level of interpersonal contact with the populace.

He encouraged the trained officers to train others.

The Lagos State Commandant of NSCDS, Mr Adedotun Keshiro, who was represented by Mr Aruwa Kadiri, said that the impact of the training could not be over emphasised.

Keshiro commended the organisers of the training, adding that he would encourage more of such training.

The Group Commandant of Vigilante Group of Nigeria, Mr Tanudeen Opeyemi, also commended the organisers of the training.

He added that the training had equipped the officers in many ways.
