Soft Skills: Cosmopolitan varsity signs MoU with 4 international partners
The Cosmopolitan University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with four international organisations on the development of soft skills certification for its students.
The Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Carl Adams, disclosed this in Abuja on Thursday that the MoU would turn the Cosmopolitan dream into a reality, especially in artificial intelligence (AI), modern digital skills, and digital entrepreneurship programmes.
Adams, a professor of information systems, noted that the partners were industry leaders and institutions dedicated to building environments and opportunities where innovation thrives.
According to him, by collaborating with industry partners, we ensure our graduates are not just academically proficient but are also ready to make immediate contributions in their chosen fields.
“As we navigate the complexities of the 21st century, it is imperative that we not only adapt to change but lead with purpose.
“This commitment is not just a mantra; it is the heartbeat that propels us forward into a future defined by innovation, inclusivity, and collective achievement. Collaboration is the cornerstone upon which great institutions are built.
“Our commitment to collaboration is not confined within the walls of lecture halls and laboratories; it extends far beyond, weaving an intricate tapestry of interconnected, meaningful, and profitable partnerships.
“The collaborations we embark on today through this event are cross-disciplinary and designed to break down intellectual silos in order to encourage a cross-pollination of ideas,” he said.
The vice chancellor said the essence of the collaboration was to propel students beyond the academic demands of their respective courses while providing them with the resources and opportunities to become global superstars.
According to him, in an era of interconnectedness, the possibilities unlocked by such collaborations are limitless.
“The partnerships forged today will bring a wealth of perspectives to our campus, enriching the educational experience for every student.
“Simultaneously, we believe that they will also have a positive impact on the local community here in Nigeria by providing avenues to engage with communities and tailor solutions that are uniquely suited to the challenges we face,” he added.
He listed the organisations as Global Knowledge Consult, Confucius Institute for Mandarin, UK Across Atlantic Development, and Cisco.
Also speaking, the registrar of the institution, Dr. Mani Ibrahim, said that partnering with the Chinese Confucius Institute for Mandarin would afford staff and students the opportunity to be exposed to the Chinese culture.
Supreme News reports that the institution, which commenced operation on Oct. 4, currently has 58 students across the faculties.
