Tinubu Files Motions to Stop FBI, CIA, and Others from Revealing Secret Information
Bola Tinubu, the president of Nigeria, has taken measures to prevent the publication of approximately 2,500 documents pertaining to him by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), and other United States agencies. The FBI is scheduled to disclose these documents from their database in October.
As reported by the Peoples Gazette, Tinubu's attorneys in the United States have filed motions to appear in an ongoing freedom of information action against U.S. organisations containing documents that may help answer queries about the president's true identity and long-term goals.
Bryan A. Carey, one of the attorneys who recently represented Tinubu in the Chicago records case, filed the petition on October 18, 2023, stating that he was a qualified attorney to participate in the ongoing FOIA case in Washington, D.C.
Carey, who practises law in Washington, D.C., stated on behalf of Carmichael, "Pursuant to Civil Local Rule 83.2(c), Bryan A. Carey motions for the admission and appearance of attorney Christopher Carmichael pro hac vice in the above-mentioned action. This motion is endorsed by Christopher Carmichael's Declaration. According to Mr. Carmichael's declaration, he is a member in good standing who is admitted and actively participating.
Carmichael, who also represented Tinubu, did not respond to a request for comment, and Oluwole Afolabi, the president's chief attorney in the United States, declined to comment until the trial had formally begun.
The attorneys are assiduously working to submit a comprehensive argument as soon as possible in order to argue for any reliefs prior to the October 31 deadline. Before the end of October, the FBI intends to disclose the documents to Aaron Greenspan, the owner of PlainSite, a website that promotes anti-corruption and transparency in public service.
