‘We stand by you’ - Groups reassure Orji-Kalu
The All Progressives Congress (APC) support groups in Abia have reaffirmed their allegiance to Sen. Orji Uzor-Kalu (APC-Abia).
This is contained in a statement issued in Umuahia on Monday by Kalu’s media team.
The statement said the leaders of the groups, Reality Organisation Worldwide and the Orji Uzor-Kalu (OUK) Movement, said this at the lawmaker’s Igbere country home in Bende Local Government Area of the state.
It said that the meeting was held at the behest of Kalu, also the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Privatisation, who invited them for the distribution of his annual yuletide package.
It added that the group leaders lauded Kalu’s leadership style and development strides in the senatorial zone.
They also lauded some of his philanthropic endeavours, which were non-political because he initiated them in 1986 before joining politics.
The groups enumerated infrastructure projects like schools, roads, and water boreholes built by Kalu in all 448 communities in Abia-North.
They lauded the former Abia Governor for his annual yuletide philanthropic gestures and promised to remain committed to him in order to benefit more.
Mr. Ojisi Ogbaja, Abia Chairman, OUK Movement, gave the lawmaker a pad on the back for sustaining development at the grassroots.
Ogbaja said that he personally benefited from the 25, 000 bags of rice and cash distributed by Kalu for the yuletide.
“Orji Kalu is practicalizing his love for the people at the grassroots, and he has changed the norm by personally distributing the items directly to the beneficiaries by himself,” he said.
The APC Chairman in Bende LGA, Chief Ulu Onwuchekwe, recalled how Kalu mobilised his personal resources to win the zone’s Senate, House of Representatives, and Assembly seats in favour of the party in 2019.
Ulu told the party’s national leadership that APC in the South-East would be safe under Kalu.
”Even those that are not in APC, as long as you’re from Abia-North, you’re entitled to receive all the items.
“We are grateful to Sen. Orji Kalu. He is a blessing to Nigeria, not only Abia-North.
“If APC wants control of the entire South-East, he should be saddled with the leadership of the party.
“This is a man who started financing the party with his personal funds in 2017,” he said.
