Insecurity: Expert urges government to intensify efforts
Adebomi advised that places like recreational centres and praying grounds should be provided with armed security operatives in order to protect lives and property of people.
Retired Captain Sunday Adebomi, a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti, has called on the government to intensify efforts toward addressing the insecurity challenges.
Adebomi, a retired Captain in the United States of America (USA) Military and the Chairman, Ekiti State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), made the call while addressing newsmen in Ise-Ekiti, Ise-Orun Local Government area of Ekiti on Saturday.
He also called on the Muslim faithful to use the period of this celebration to pray for the country, enjoining them to renew their love for peace and unity of the country.
Adebomi advised them to increase their love for the country to enable it to overcome the security and economic challenges.
According to him, the period of Sallah is a time for both Muslims and Christians to reflect on the life of total obedience, submission and humility displayed by Prophet Mohammed to the instructions of Allah.
Adebomi urged Nigerians to promote religious harmony, peaceful coexistence and tolerance which, according to him, is a core prerequisite for unity and development of the country.
"I implore all our brothers and sisters of the Islamic faith to reflect on the symbolic lessons of faith and obedience attached to the spiritual doctrination of sacrifice by Prophet Ibrahim many centuries ago and its attendant blessings to mankind.
"They should apply same in their day to day activities and relationship with their neighbours," he said.
Adebomi urged Muslims to use the occasion to pray for peace, economic stability and development of the country and as well, imbibe the attitude of praying for political leaders at all levels.
He advised that places like recreational centres and praying grounds should be provided with armed security operatives in order to protect lives and property of people.
Adebomi appealed to Nigerians to use the season to pray for restoration of peace and solution to various challenges confronting the country.
