The Federal University, Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA) in Katsina State, says it has secured accreditation for about 23 new full-time undergraduate and 21 Postgraduate (PG) programs.

This is contained in a statement issued to newsmen on Wednesday in Katsina by the Coordinator, Directorate of Public Relations and Protocol (DPRP) of the University, Malam Habib Umar-Amin.

According to him, the accreditation was approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and will commence with the 2023–2024 academic session.

Umar-Amin further revealed that the approval of the new programs was contained in a letter signed by NUC’s Director of Academic Planning, Dr. N.B. Saliu.

Salisu signed for the Executive Secretary of the Commission and addressed it to the university’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Armayau Hamisu-Bichi.

“The approval for the commencement of the programs was a sequel to an earlier resource verification visit to the university by a NUC panel of experts for the proposed programs.

According to him, the visit was with a view to assessing the human and material resources available for their establishment.

“Some of the newly introduced undergraduate programs include B.Sc. Mass Communication, LL.B. Law, B.Eng., Mechatronics Engineering, and B.Sc. International Relations and Diplomacy.

“Others are B.URP Urban and Regional Planning, B.Sc Applied Geophysics, B.Tech Entrepreneurship, and B.Tech Textile Design Technology, amongst others,” he revealed.

According to the DPRP, the new programs are in addition to over 80 different programs already being offered at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
