IBB varsity offers employment to best graduating students
Prof. Abu Kasim-Adamu said that the distinguished graduates would be employed as Graduate Assistants and trained up to doctorate (PhD) level.
The Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University (IBBU), Lapai, has offered employment to two of the overall best graduates of the institution during its 4th Combined Convocation.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abu Kasim-Adamu, made the announcement at the convocation square of the university on Saturday in Lapai.
He said that the distinguished graduates would be employed as graduate assistants and trained up to doctorate (PhD) level.
The overall best-graduating student in the 2019–20 academic session is Aisha Mohammed-Egbako of the Animal Production Department, with a CGPA of 4.85.
The overall best-graduating student in the 2020–2021 academic session, Yahaya Mahmud Baba, was of the Department of Food Science and Technology with a CGPA of 4.90.
“The university has awarded 37 students with First Class degrees, 954 students with Second Class Upper, 3,283 students with Second Class Lower, 1,518 students with Third Class, and 17 students with Pass degrees, respectively.
“The university is also graduating 6,154 students, out of which 5,719 are undergraduates and 435 are postgraduates,” he said.
Similarly, Kasim-Adamu said approval for the commencement of medicine in the institution has been endorsed since 2020 by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
“Candidates in Niger and a few others acrossNigeria have been applying, and we have made efforts to admit 50 students approved by the Medical and Dental Councilof Nigeria (MDCN),” he said.
He said that the advisory visit by the council was expected for the formal takeoff of the MBBS program, adding that a teaching hospital is critical for the success of the program.
Similarly, the Vice-Chancellor said the institution has created six centers to enhance research, innovation, and patency in the institution, saying that the university needs funding to actualize its lofty dreams.
Supreme reports that honorary doctorate degrees were awarded to different personalities, including Gov. Simon Lalong of Plateau and retired Col. Sani Bello, Chairman, Mainstream Energy Solutions.
Others are Alhaji Ibrahim Aliyu, Chairman, Aliyu Trust Foundation, and Alhaji AbdulSamad Ishaka-Rabiu, Chairman, BUA Group.
