4 eatery employees in court for allegedly stealing N2.5m

Akeem said that the alleged theft was uncovered when the eatery’s account was audited.

A man and three women, employees of Sweet Sensation, an eatery, on Monday, appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court, charged with N2.5 million theft.

The defendants: Kayode Abiodun, 46, Wuraola Adedigba, 31; Aishat Ganiyu, 27; and Oluwatosin Ajayi, 36, a cashier, who all live at Mowe- Ibafo area, Ogun State, are standing trial over alleged conspiracy and stealing.

The prosecutor, ASP Raji Akeem told the court that the offences were committed between 2020 and 2022 at Sweet Sensation, Ikeja branch.

Akeem said that the defendants conspired and stole N2.5million belonging to their employer, Sweet Sensation.

Akeem said that the alleged theft was uncovered when the eatery’s account was audited.

The offences, the prosecutor said, contravened Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs B. O Osunsanmi admitted each of the defendants to N300,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.

Osunsanmi adjourned the case until Jan. 30 for mention.
