A housewife, Mrs Oninloka Lawal and her husband, Taiwo, were, on Tuesday, arraigned before a Magistrates’ Court, Kubwa, Abuja, over alleged criminal intimidation.

The police charged the couple with criminal force, intimidation and causing hurt.

The Prosecution Counsel, John Okpa, told the court that the complainant, Elizabeth Anawo, reported the matter at Byazhin Divisional Police Headquarters on April 17.

Okpa said that the complainant, a neighbour to the defendants, was at home when Mrs Lawal dragged her hair on the said date.

He stated that Taiwo joined his wife and kicked the complainant, making her to fall down and thus sustaining injuries.

The prosecution said that the defendants also threatened to deal with the complainant, adding that the offence contravened the provisions of Section 265 of the Penal Code.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them.

The Magistrate, Nneaka Lesley, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N300,000 each and one surety each, who must reside within the court’s jurisdiction.

Nneaka, who said that the sureties must produce means of identification, adjourned the case till May 14 for hearing.
