Man, 21 docked for allegedly stabbing neighbour with scissors

The Police on Tuesday arraigned a 21-year-old man, Mustapha Abubakar in a Karu Grade 1 Area Court, sitting in Abuja for allegedly stabbing neighbour with scissors.

The defendant, who resides at Kugbo International Market, Abuja is being tried for criminal force without provocation and voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous means.

He however denied committing the crime.

The prosecution counsel, Ayotunde Adeyanju told the court that the complainant, Mr Paul Yusuf of Kugbo International Market, reported the matter at the Karu Police station on March 14.

According to him, the complainant alleged that on March 13, while he was with his colleague at the above mentioned address, an argument ensued.

He said in the cause of the argument, the defendant removed scissors and stabbed him in the stomach, before he was rushed to the Asokoro General Hospital, Abuja.

Adeyanju further told the court that the complainant was treated and later discharged with the hospital bill yet to be estimated.

The offence, he said contravened sections 265 and 248 of the Penal Code.

The Judge, Aliyu Alhassan, however, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1m with three sureties in like sums and adjourned the case until May 20 for hearing.
