Man, 23, docked for allegedly stealing machine, cables worth N1.2m

A 23-year-old man, Yusuf Bello, on Tuesday, appeared before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, for allegedly stealing a sewing machine valued N250, 000 and 10mm electrical cable wires valued N1millon.

Bello is standing trial on a two-count charge of burglary and stealing.

He pleaded guilty to the charges preferred against him.

Magistrate L.K.J Layeni following the plea of the defendant, adjourned the case until April 28, for review of facts and sentencing

The Prosecutor, ASP Simon Uche, had told the court that the defendant committed the offence on March 16, at the Etegbin area of Ojo.

He alleged that the defendant broke into a residence located at Adebola Sule Street in Etegbin through a window.

Uche alleged that the defendant stole a white sewing machine valued N250, 000, and a black and red 10mm electrical cable wire valued N1million.

He said that the total value of stolen items amounted to N1.25 million.

The prosecutor said that the offences contravened the provisions of Section 287 and 314 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
