Man arraigned for allegedly stealing friend’s N307,300

A 25-year-old man, Wonderful Makama, was, on Tuesday, arraigned before a Dei-Dei Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly stealing his friend’s N307,300.
The police charged Makama, of opposite Unity High School, Phase 4, Kubwa Abuja, with theft.
The Prosecutor, Mr Olanipekun Babajide, told the court that the complainant, Uba Victor, reported the matter at Kubwa Police Station on July 14.
Babajide said on the same date, the defendant intentionally lured one Abigail Ezekiel into his house at Phase 4, Kubwa and dishonestly stole N307,300 entrusted to her by the complainant.
He said that during police investigation, the defendant could not give a satisfactory account of his actions.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 288 of the Penal Code.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him by the police.
The Judge, Mr Saminu Suleiman, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200,000, with a surety in like sum.
Suleiman, who said that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, adjourned the case till Aug.17 for hearing.
