Manager arraigned for allegedly stealing company’s property

A 40-year-old man, Damilola Isheniyi, was on Friday docked at an Abeokuta Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing his employer’s goods and money to the tune of N1.1 million.

The defendant,whose address was not provided, is facing charges of stealing and unlawful conversion.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Insp. Olaide Rawlings, told the court that the defendant committed the offense fromMarch to May at Vanguard Pharmacy, Oke-Ilewo, in Abeokuta.

Rawlings said that the defendant was the manager in charge of the Oke-Ilewo branch of the pharmacy.

She said that the defendant collected some goods worth N751,035 from the pharmacy and refused to remit the money to the company’s account.

The prosecutor also said the defendant converted the company’s N303,750 into his possession by reducing the money given to him to buy diesel for the pharmacy.

The alleged offenses contravene Sections 390(6) and 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.

The Magistrate, Mrs. M.O. Osinbajo, granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties.

She adjourned the case until June 7 for a hearing.
