Church celebrates Bakare at 70, describes him as builder

The Citadel Global Community Church (CGCC) has lined up activities to celebrate its Serving Overseer, Pastor Tunde Bakare, who clocks 70 years on Nov. 11.

In a statement signed by Team Lead, Media and Publicity Sub-Committee for the event, Mr Kayode Ladeinde, on Monday, the church described Bakare as a nation builder.

It said that the week-long activities showed Bakare’s huge influence.

The church said that the celebration would begin on Nov. 10 with appreciation service by members of the church, family and friends of the cleric.

The church stated that Nov. 11 would be for the birthday anniversary thanksgiving service and presentation of Bakare’s latest book entitled “The Last but Definitely not the Least”

It also said that there would be institution of a Law Endorsement Fund by Bakare on Nov. 12 at the University of Lagos, adding that a solar project would be inaugurated on the same day in the same university in honour of the cleric to encourage learning.

Supreme News reports that Bakare is an alumnus of the university.

The church said that Nov. 13 would feature a wellness and health talk on: ‘A Formula for a Sickness-free life with Dr Susana Adams’.

“It is a session aimed at promoting wellness and healthy living.”

It added that there would be a lecture at the Citadel Centre for Development to examine the recent Supreme Court decision on local government autonomy.

“The lecture is tagged: “Democratic System of Local Government as Third Tier of Government in Nigeria: Matters Arising”.

“Prof. Taiwo Osipitan (SAN) will be the guest lecturer and Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), Chairman of the occasion, while Dr Reuben Abati will moderate the panel session.

The celebration would be wrapped up on Sunday, Nov. 17, with a thanksgiving service at the CGCC, Oregun, Ikeja.

Bakare, a highly-respected cleric and politician, was the running mate to former President Muhammadu Buhari when he contested for presidency in 2011 on the platform of Congress for Progressive Change.

In 2022, Bakare announced his intention to run for the presidency after Buhari’s second term in office.

He was one of the aspirants on the platform the All Progressives Congress in 2023.

His leadership has continued to inspire and challenge both the church and the nation to higher ideals of truth and integrity.

The father of five and husband to Layide is the Convener of Save Nigeria Group.
