Hajiya Hauwa Lawal-Jibrin, the only female candidate in the just concluded elections in Katsina State, has solicited support for the incoming governor of the state, Dr Dikko Radda.
Lawal-Jibrin, who contested for House of Assembly seat on the platform of African Democratic Party, made the appeal at a news briefing on Tuesday in Katsina.
She said that it was time to keep politics aside and support the governor-elect and other winners to develop the state.
“Now that the political campaigns and elections are over, there is need for all the contestants in the elections to adhere strictly to the teaching of their faith that powers comes from God.
“They should begin to pray for success and support the incoming administration to make Katsina state great,” she added.
Lawal-Jibrin said she worked hard to win the election but lost, and thanked her supporters for believing in her.
“While congratulating the governor-elect for his deserved victory, it is necessary for all the contestants in the election to remember that only God gives power.
“Although I lost my election for the state House of Assembly seat despite working tremendously hard with my team across the 12 wards of Katsina Local Government, but I have accepted the outcome of the election.
“I call on the fellow contestants in the state to do so in the overall interest of our dear state,” she added.
She implored the incoming administration to focus more on the welfare of women and the teeming youths in the state.
“Women and the youths have been adversely affected by insecurity and economic hardship in the society,” she said.
