NSCDC C-G condoles with families of two Imo personnel killed
The two personnel, Onwuzuruike Sixtus, an Assistant Superintendent of Corps I, and Simon Simon, a Corps Assistant I, were on official duty when they were ambushed and killed in the community.
Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr Ahmed Audi, has commiserated with families of two personnel ambushed and killed at Umuolulo, Obiangwu Community in lmo.
The two personnel, Onwuzuruike Sixtus, an Assistant Superintendent of Corps I, and Simon Simon, a Corps Assistant I, were on official duty when they were ambushed and killed in the community.
They were murdered alongside two others who were not personnel of the NSCDC.
Audi described the latest ambush of the personnel as death too many and directed staff of the corps to give intelligence gathering and information utmost importance.
“In view of the security situation of the country, place high premium on information and intelligence gathering.
“Work closely with local communities and be ahead of criminals before they are able to carry out their nefarious activities,” Audi said in a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday by the NSCDC spokesman, Mr Olusola Odumosu,
Audi also directed the Imo NSCDC Commandant, Mathew Ovye to forward the deceased personnel’s details to the insurance unit of the corps to process their benefits for payment to their next of kin.
He prayed for the repose of the souls of the departed and ordered that a thorough investigation be conducted to bring the perpetrators of the heinous crime to justice.
“Anyone with useful information about hoodlums or gunmen terrorising the people of Imo or responsible for the killing of the two members of the corps should kindly contact the corps discreetly or anonymously,” he pleaded.
Audi urged members of the public to cooperate with security agencies to arrest any form of criminality by giving timely information to nip crime in the bud.
