Septuagenarian woman docked for allegedly assaulting man
Obaletan said that the defendant conspired with others now at large to commit felony to wit assault.;

A 70-year-old woman, Adebanke Olatunde, on Thursday, arraigned before an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court for allegedly assaulting a man.
The Prosecutor, ASP James Obaletan, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on April 2 around 11:30 am at Onikonga Village, Ifetedo in Ife South Local Government.
Obaletan said that the defendant conspired with others now at large to commit felony to wit assault.
He alleged that the defendant assaulted one Omolere Sikiru, whose age was not disclosed, by hitting him with a blow.
According to him, the offence contravened sections 354 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to two-count charge of conspiracy and assault.
The Defence Counsel, Mr Taofeek Oyesiji, pleaded for the bail of the defendant in most Liberal terms , promising that his client would not jump bail, but would provide responsible sureties.
Magistrate Taofeek Badmus, granted the bail to the defendant in the sum of N500,000 with one surety in like amount.
Badmus said that the surety must swear to an affidavit of means and resides within Ifetedo court jurisdiction.
He said the surety must be gainfully employed and his home address must be verified by the prosecutor.
He added that the surety must also provide three years tax clearance certificate or a landed property worth N1 million, while the document of property should be deposited with the court registry.
He adjourned the case until April 28, for hearing.
