NSCDC honours officers, journalists for hardwork

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Oyo State Command, has given awards to some of its officers and men for their hard work and diligence in the discharge of their duties.

Others also honoured with awards were some journalists in the state, including Mrs Rasheedat Makinde, a Security Correspondent in the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), and Daily Independent, Correspondent, Mr Kazeem Awojoodu.

S reports that the awards were given during the 2020 End of the Year party organised by the command for the officers.

Speaking during the ceremony, the NSCDC Commandant in the state, Iskilu Akinsanya, said the performance of the command during 2020 could not have been recognised if not for the support of the officers.

Akinsanya said that the command was able to surmount the challenges of the year due to the officers’ support and dedication to duty.

The commandant said the essence of the party was to honour those officers that had made the command proud.

“It is now left for those officers, who don’t come to work regularly, just wear the uniform and collect salaries, to turn a new leaf.

“We want to showcase those people that are hardworking; we are watching and looking at them.

“Some come to work as early as 7am and would not leave even when the commandant had left.

“We appreciate you and we want you to keep the pace,” Akinsanya said.

The commandant also commended the media for their support, saying that the NSCDC performance might not be recognised by the public if not for the support of the media.

Similarly, Deputy Commandant-General (DCG), Shem Obafaiye, said the NSCDC officers in Oyo State had performed excellently well.

Obafaiye said the command had recorded a lot of successes during 2020 and advised staff to continue to put in their best in tackling the security challenges in the state.

Supreme reports that gift was also presented to some officers that have retired from the command.
