Court remands 4 for allegedly robbing 14 people
Oke said that the defendants held 16 customers and staff of the lounge hostage and robbed them of their belongings at gunpoint.
An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Friday remanded four unemployed men who allegedly robbed 14 people of belongings worth N32.6 million at gunpoint.
The defendants are Ugochukwu Oyenuforo, 30; Abiodun Usman, 30; Ramoni Ogundele, 32; and Yaro Abdul, 25.
They are all residents of Igando, Lagos State, and are charged with conspiracy, armed robbery, and unlawful possession of firearms.
The Magistrate, Mrs. C. Ayinde, did not take the defendants’ pleas.
She said that she needed advice from the Lagos State director of public prosecutions.
Ayinde ordered that the defendant be kept in prison custody.
She adjourned the case until Aug. 30 for mention.
The prosecutor, Insp. Segun Oke, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on May 21 at Buoyancy Lounge, Isheri, Lagos State.
Oke said that the defendants held 16 customers and staff of the lounge hostage and robbed them of their belongings at gunpoint.
Oke said that the Manager of the lounge, Mr. Oluwaseun Adediwura, the receptionist, and Miss Queen Okezie reported the case at a police station.
”The people robbed include Mr. Oluwaseun Williams, Mr. Ugochukwu Okonkwo, Mr. Dickson Nnubia, Mr. Oluwasegun Oyemosu, Mr. Olamilekan Akinfolakin, and Mr. Pascal Ezinne.
“The others are Mr. Lionel Abara, Miss Rosemary Ajayi, Mr. Debo Robinson, Mr. Taiwo Temitope, Mr. Faith Odoh, Mr. Opeyemi Ajisafe, Mr. Simon Innocent, and Mr. Saheed Ramon,” he said.
Oke said that the defendants robbed their victims of mobile phones, gold jewellery, a Toyota Camry, and a Lexus RX jeep.
The prosecutor said that the defendants were armed with locally made guns, knives, and cutlasses.
The alleged offences contravene Sections 296, 297, and 299 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
