Manager allegedly steals filling station’s N6m, faces prosecution

A 36-year-old filling station manager, Adedayo Kolawole, was, on Wednesday, arraigned before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan for allegedly stealing N6 million belonging to the filling station.

Kolawole, who is the manager of Taoliyya Filling Station in Dalute on the Akala Motorway in Ibadan, was charged with theft, to which he, however, pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Insp. Olalekan Adegbite, told the court that Kolawole committed the offence between March 2023 and March 25, 2024.

Adegbite said that the defendant used his position as manager to fraudulently convert the company’s money to his personal use.

According to him, the offence contravenes Section 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The magistrate, Mrs. Oluwabusayo Osho, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1 million, with two sureties in like sum.

Osho said that one of the sureties must be a blood relative of the defendant.

She, thereafter, adjourned the case until April 4 for hearing.
